Simon is an African Grey with the vocabulary of a dockworker, the timing of a stand-up comedian, and absolutely no respect for polite company.

You’ve heard of “Simon Says”? Around here it’s more like “Simon Says… WHAT THE F***?” 😆

This bird has somehow mastered more creative uses of the F-word than most adults knew existed. Noun? Yep. Verb? Absolutely. Adjective? Constantly. Sentence enhancer? Simon considers that his specialty. If there’s a grammatically questionable place to insert an F-bomb, he’ll find it.

But underneath the mouth of a drunken sailor is a ridiculously intelligent, entertaining African Grey who loves being part of the action and has no problem contributing his opinion—whether anyone asked for it or not.

Simon needs a home with a good sense of humor and realistic expectations. If you’re easily offended, have very young children learning their first words, or were hoping for a bird who says “Polly wants a cracker”… Simon would like to respectfully tell you to keep looking. 😂

Sunshine is a 29-year-old cockatoo, hatched on March 3rd, and he’s getting ready to celebrate the big 3-0! 🎉

With that fabulous orange crest and larger-than-life personality, Sunshine certainly knows how to make an entrance. But don't let the cockatoo reputation fool you — he isn't the loudest guy in the room. When Sunshine does let out a yelp, though, you’d better listen. That’s his way of saying, “Hey! Something's up!”

Ozzy is a 20+ year-old Umbrella Cockatoo who apparently never received the official cockatoo handbook explaining that he’s supposed to scream at the top of his lungs. 😂 In fact, Ozzy may be the quietest Umbrella Cockatoo we’ve ever had at Safe Perch—and anyone who knows cockatoos understands just how impressive that statement is.

Don’t confuse quiet with boring, though. Ozzy is a character. He loves dancing to music, watching TV, hanging out on top of his cage, and shredding newspapers like they personally offended him. He’ll even reach through the cage, gently grab at you and say “gotcha!” He knows some words too, although—like any respectable cockatoo—he’ll say them when he feels like it.

Ozzy also takes bedtime very seriously. His cage must be completely covered at night, and apparently he will withhold his official “good night” until his accommodations meet his standards. 😂

He’s a sweet, funny, surprisingly mellow guy with more than 20 years of personality behind those big cockatoo eyes. Ozzy would be best suited for someone with large-parrot experience who can give him plenty of attention, interaction, and the kind of home where this wonderfully unusual “quiet cockatoo” can truly be part of the family.

Pichu is a roughly 1-year-old cockatiel with a big personality packed into a very small body. He is incredibly social, loves to sing, and firmly believes that whatever you are doing should involve him too. Working on the computer? Expect a tiny feathered assistant walking across your keyboard. Sitting on the couch? Congratulations—you are now Pichu’s personal climbing gym.

Pichu loves being around people and would do best in a home where he can receive plenty of attention and companionship. He eats pellets, although he’ll happily tell you that seeds are the superior food choice, and he prefers whole veggies like leafy greens and broccoli stalks over finely chopped foods.

Sweet, funny, clingy, and just a little nosy, Pichu is the kind of bird who doesn’t just want to live in your home—he wants to be involved in absolutely everything happening in it.

Meet Sky, a 16–18-year-old Peach-Faced Lovebird who has reached the stage of life where he knows exactly what he likes and sees absolutely no reason to explain himself.

Sky is currently happiest hanging out in his cage, enjoying some millet and minding his own tiny business. He is also a firm believer that every water bowl is actually a bathtub, and he will happily demonstrate this whenever the mood strikes.

He may be small, but at his age Sky has earned the right to be particular. He isn’t looking to run a marathon, learn calculus, or become an Instagram influencer. He’s looking for a patient home where he can feel safe, settle in at his own pace, and enjoy the comfortable little life he deserves.

Hi. I’m Abigail. For the first part of my life, everyone called me Abe because they thought I was a boy.
I let that continue for years.
Then one day I laid an egg.
Apparently that was the moment the humans decided we needed to revisit some paperwork.
So yes, Abe became Abigail, and I personally think the whole thing was hilarious.

I’m a 26-year-old Blue & Gold Macaw with plenty of personality and a few strong opinions. I’m also a feather plucker, but Rob and Laura are working on changing my diet and giving me lots of enrichment, activities, and things to keep my busy macaw brain focused on something besides my feathers. Donna is a 9-year-old cockatiel with lots of personality and a very clear preference for men—especially the kind willing to provide a dependable shoulder.

When she comes out of her cage, Donna immediately searches for her favorite person, climbs aboard, and begins giving him the full daily report. She is talkative, social, and apparently believes every man entering the house has arrived specifically to see her.

Donna is looking for a loving home where she will receive plenty of companionship, attention, and shoulder time. She has spent too much time alone and is ready to become someone’s tiny feathered best friend—and possibly their new supervisor.

Moe and Nubs are two more of the cockatiel brothers who recently came into Safe Perch Exotic Avian Rescue from a surrender in Kentucky.

They are part of the little brother crew: Eanie, Meanie, Miney, Moe, and Nubs — with Nubs getting his name because of his little club foot.

Moe is settling in along with his brothers, while Nubs has already stolen our hearts in a special way. Because of his little foot, Nubs may need extra patience, understanding, and long-term care.

Meet Gunner, a 14-year-old Blue-Crowned Conure and part-time bird, full-time home security system.

Put Gunner near a window and congratulations—you no longer need a doorbell, Ring camera, or neighborhood watch. If somebody is approaching the house, Gunner will let you know. Possibly you, your neighbors, and everyone within a reasonable ZIP code.

He loves climbing in and out of his cage, happily takes treats from your hand, and has been known to laugh at the humans around him. His vocabulary also includes the occasional “I’m Batman” and “Wake up, Theresa!” We have no idea who Theresa is or why she needs to wake up, but Gunner apparently has been assigned the morning shift.

Gunner isn’t currently a big fan of being handled, so he’s looking for someone willing to earn his trust instead of expecting instant cuddles. Give him patience, respect his boundaries, and let this funny little character show you who he is.

Meet Benny, a handsome pineapple green-cheek conure with warm tropical coloring and plenty of personality packed into a small body. His soft cream-colored head, rosy chest, green wings, and long red tail make him impossible to overlook.

Benny is curious, alert, and loves keeping an eye on everything happening around him. He is looking for a patient, committed home that will give him plenty of attention, enrichment, and time to build trust at his own pace. With love, consistency, and proper care, Benny has all the potential to become a wonderful little companion.

Hi. I’m Neeko. I’m about 40 years old, which means I’ve had four decades to develop very strong opinions about how humans should behave. I’m an Umbrella Cockatoo, so naturally I’m beautiful, intelligent, charming…and completely qualified to supervise your entire household.

A few things you should know: I do NOT like hats. I don’t know what humans are trying to accomplish by putting suspicious objects on their heads, but I want no part of it. Take it off. We can discuss your poor fashion choices later. I do approve of peanut butter, corn, and broccoli, so clearly I have excellent taste. And when my cage door opens, I’ll come out when I’m ready. I spent roughly 30 years with my previous family, so this is a big change for me. He’s actually a very sweet guy who loves long head scratches, attention, music, and watching TV. When he wants out of his cage, he’ll sit by the door and say “Hello,” and if you ask whether he’s been a good bird, he may proudly announce, “I’m a BAD bird,” even when he hasn’t done anything wrong.

Monty also enjoys green beans, apples, carrots, grapes, and carefully monitoring whatever the humans happen to be eating. He isn’t big on being handled, but he’ll shake your finger, give kisses, and occasionally say “I love you.”

Monty has spent decades as part of a family, so he’s looking for someone who understands that an Amazon isn’t just a pet—it’s a roommate, supervisor, food inspector, and occasionally a tiny green dictator with feathers.
